The Katsina State Executive Council has approved a proposed 2027 budget of N828.6 billion, alongside major projects in healthcare, road infrastructure, and public transportation.

The approvals were made at the council’s 14th regular meeting for 2026, chaired by Governor Dikko Radda at the Government House in Katsina on Thursday.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Malik Anas, said the proposed budget, tagged “Building Your Future Agenda IV,” is N69.2 billion lower than the 2026 approved budget.
He said 23 percent of the proposed budget is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while 77 percent is earmarked for capital projects.
The social sector received the largest sectoral allocation of 38.33 percent, followed by the economic sector with 35.59 percent and the administration sector with 23.97 percent.
Priority areas include education, works, housing and transport, agriculture and livestock development, health, and rural development.
The council also approved the transmission of the budget proposal to the Katsina State House of Assembly for consideration.
In the health sector, the council approved the procurement of additional equipment for the Advanced Imaging and Cancer Centre at the General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital in Katsina.
The facility is expected to expand access to specialized medical, diagnostic, and laboratory services and reduce the need for residents to seek treatment outside the state or country.
The council also approved the construction of an asphalt road in the Rafukka area of Katsina metropolis to improve connectivity and address poor road conditions.
In addition, the council approved plans for the deployment and management of 30 hybrid buses for intra-city transportation.
A consultant will work with the Katsina State Transport Authority to manage the operations, while a dedicated Hybrid Bus Operations and Maintenance Unit will be established to oversee the buses, charging facilities, and maintenance.
The plan also includes the installation of transformer substations in Katsina, Daura, and Funtua to support charging and workshop facilities, as well as the recruitment and training of qualified drivers and administrative staff.
The approvals are part of the Governor Radda administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and public transportation across the state.
