The Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN) has urged the Federal Government to settle outstanding pension entitlements, including three months of the N25,000 monthly subsidy-removal palliative owed to eligible beneficiaries.

The association also called on the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to clarify the implementation of pension harmonisation, which took effect in January 2026, amid concerns over its impact on retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme.
The demands were contained in a communiqué issued after FEPPPAN’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja on October 22. The document was signed by the association’s President-General, Benjamin Maisamari Amako, and General Secretary, Franklin Erinle.
FEPPPAN urged the government and relevant agencies to expedite payment of verified claims, warning that delays could worsen pensioners’ financial difficulties amid rising living costs.
It also called for the publication or clear explanation of the pension harmonisation policy, insisting that eligible retirees should benefit from improved monthly pensions. The association further requested a stakeholders’ meeting with PTAD to address complaints and improve communication.
On the planned relaunch of the I Am Alive pension verification platform, FEPPPAN urged PTAD to provide clear guidelines and assistance for elderly, sick and physically incapacitated pensioners to prevent eligible beneficiaries from losing their payments because of verification difficulties.
The association commended President Bola Tinubu for the regular payment of monthly pensions to Defined Benefit Scheme retirees and urged him to sustain the practice.
It also called on PTAD and the National Health Insurance Authority to simplify enrolment in the Pensioner Health Insurance Scheme through assisted registration, accessible enrolment centres and support for retirees unable to complete the process independently.
FEPPPAN reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government and relevant agencies to improve pension administration and protect retirees’ welfare.
