Politicians and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The defectors were formally presented to Governor Dikko Umar Radda at the Government House on Monday by the Deputy Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Abduljalal Haruna Runka, and the Safana Local Government Chairman, Abdullahi Sani, popularly known as Brazil.
Receiving the new members, Radda welcomed them into the APC and urged them to work with existing party members to advance the development of the state.
The Deputy Speaker said the delegation was in Government House to reaffirm its support for the governor and the APC, while the local government chairman pledged continued cooperation with the administration.
Speaking on behalf of the former PDP members, Umar Ya’u said Radda’s fairness and development initiatives influenced their decision to leave the opposition party.
Ya’u recalled receiving government-subsidized fertilizer while he was still a PDP member, saying the gesture convinced him that the governor treated supporters of opposition parties fairly.
He also cited development projects in Safana and the efforts of the local government chairman as reasons for joining the APC.
Similarly, ADC defector Umme Yakubu Safana said the group joined the APC because of confidence in Radda’s leadership and development agenda.
The defectors pledged to work with other APC members and support the administration’s efforts to develop Katsina State.

The PDP delegation was led by Yahaya Abubakar, Dan Area, while Umme Yakubu Safana led the ADC delegation.
