Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Nigeria international Calvin Bassey as they plan to strengthen their defence ahead of a major squad rebuild in 2027.
According to TEAMtalk, United’s recruitment team have been impressed by the Fulham defender’s performances this season and are considering him as a potential transfer target.
Bassey has established himself as one of Fulham’s key players and has also been trusted with the captain’s armband. His ability to play both centre-back and left-back has reportedly made him an attractive option for the Premier League giants.
The 26-year-old is approaching the final months of his contract, which expires in June 2027. However, Fulham have the option to extend the deal by another year and are keen to agree fresh terms with him.
United are expected to face competition for his signature, with Newcastle United, Everton, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig also reportedly monitoring the Nigerian defender.
The interest comes as Manchester United consider changes to their defence, with Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire all facing uncertain contract situations ahead of next summer.
