2027: Nobody Can Stop Tinubu’s Re-election, Says Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is already a “done deal,” insisting that nobody can stop the President from securing a second term.

Wike made the statement while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Rivers State governor also took a swipe at African Democratic Congress chieftain Dele Momodu over his efforts to attract Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to the opposition party.

“This election has been concluded, and there is nothing anyone can do about it,” Wike said, while mocking Momodu’s repeated references to his Ife roots in his attempts to woo Adeleke.

Wike’s comments come days after the opposition suffered a setback in the Osun governorship election, where Adeleke, running on the Accord Party platform, defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The FCT minister has also recently described the opposition as “crippled” and predicted that Tinubu would secure re-election more easily than he did in 2023.

Momodu, however, has rejected Wike’s assessment of his political influence, accusing him of making an “empty boast” and warning that such claims should not be ignored as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.
