Tinubu Blames Opposition for Hunger, Poverty Ahead of 2027 Poll

President Bola Tinubu has blamed opposition parties for Nigeria’s hunger and poverty, accusing his political rivals of creating the problems they now criticize his administration over.

President Tinubu spoke on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna State, where he sought support for his re-election bid in 2027.

“I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said.

He promised Nigerians prosperity if re-elected for a second term and praised APC governors for their performance, claiming they were paying salaries regularly and promoting development.

President Tinubu’s remarks come amid public concerns over rising food prices, inflation and the cost of living following the removal of the petrol subsidy and other economic reforms introduced by his administration.

The President has defended the reforms as necessary for long-term economic recovery, while opposition leaders have criticised the government over economic hardship and insecurity.

The Kaduna rally marked the formal launch of the APC’s presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.
