Seun Kuti has said his past online dispute with Wizkid yielded meaningful results, particularly in drawing attention to the legacy of his father, Fela Kuti.
Speaking on Your View on TVC Communications, Kuti explained that the controversy helped reinforce his stance on how Fela’s ideals should be represented.
“I think it achieved a lot,” he said, arguing that it is inconsistent for individuals to claim alignment with Fela’s values while allegedly allowing actions that undermine his legacy.
The interview, titled Inside the Mind of Seun Anikulapo-Kuti, also touched on social commentator VeryDarkMan. Kuti declined to assess his activism, instead suggesting he be invited for questioning directly.
When asked about perceptions of arrogance, Kuti responded that his confidence stems from knowledge rather than self-importance.
The remarks come months after the high-profile social media clash between Kuti and Wizkid sparked widespread debate over Fela’s influence and cultural legacy.
