The management of Ossiomo Power Company has accused the Edo State Police Command of double standards in handling reports of alleged vandalism and theft of its facilities in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, claiming that the stolen equipment is worth more than N100 million.

In a statement issued in Benin City, the company alleged that several complaints lodged with the police between September 2025 and September 2026 had not received adequate attention.
It cited a November 2025 report involving the alleged vandalism of three lengths of 33kV power cables, which it said was reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Benin City without meaningful action.
The company also alleged that on September 23, 2026, staff members of Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd (CCETC) and their associates vandalised its cables and conductors.
According to the statement, some of the allegedly stolen equipment was later recovered at the Ologbo Police Division and returned to the company. However, it expressed concern that no suspects had been arrested or questioned over the incidents.
Ossiomo Power further alleged that suspected armed thieves who broke into its IPP2 plant on Wednesday night were arrested while attempting to steal cables. It said a police officer attached to the facility shot and injured one of the suspects during the incident.
The company expressed concern that the officer was subsequently arrested and detained at the Criminal Investigation Department, describing the action as evidence of alleged bias by the police command.
The allegations come amid a prolonged dispute between Ossiomo Power and CCETC, which has contributed to the shutdown of the power plant and disrupted electricity supply to customers in parts of Edo State.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, were unsuccessful, as she did not answer telephone calls.
