Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has expressed disappointment after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Barau FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 6 clash.
Barau took the lead at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Saturday when Joseph Atule converted a penalty in the 35th minute.
Sporting Lagos responded after the break, with Sodiq Ayoade equalizing in the 61st minute to earn the hosts a point. The result also extended Barau FC’s unbeaten start to the season to six matches.
Buter felt Sporting Lagos had done enough to claim all three points.
“Disappointing. I think we deserved more than a draw. We should have won this game,” Buter said.
He also praised his players for their fight and determination during the encounter.
Sporting Lagos will next face local rivals Ikorodu City in a Lagos derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Wednesday, September 30.
