France head coach Didier Deschamps has turned down a request from his players for a night off ahead of their FIFA World Cup third-place match against England.
The players had reportedly asked for time to “clear their heads” following their 2–0 semi-final defeat to Spain earlier this week.
However, Deschamps rejected the proposal, insisting his side must remain focused and avoid ending the tournament with consecutive losses.
France faces England on Saturday in Miami, with both teams aiming to secure a third-place finish after falling short in the semi-finals.
England also enter the match on the back of disappointment, having lost 2–1 to Argentina in their semi-final clash.
Despite the stakes being lower than the final, Deschamps has emphasized the team’s responsibility to finish strongly and deliver a positive result.
