Governor Radda Steps Up Fight Against Malnutrition

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged sustained investment in nutrition programs to tackle malnutrition and build on progress recorded across the state.

Governor Radda gave the assurance while receiving nutrition partners led by Hajiya Ruqqaya Hamza, Executive Director of the Katsina State Development Management Board (KATDMB), at Government House.

He urged development partners to sustain technical and institutional support for the state’s healthcare and nutrition systems, stressing the need for stronger collaboration to improve outcomes.

Governor Radda also called on partners to prioritise qualified indigenes of Katsina in their recruitment and invest in local capacity to ensure their interventions remain sustainable.

He cited the Development Management Board as an example of how partner-supported personnel could strengthen government institutions.

Earlier, the partners reported a reduction in malnutrition cases compared with the previous year, attributing the progress to increased government investment, leadership and political commitment.

They commended Governor Radda for prioritising nutrition and called for continued collaboration to sustain the gains.

Organisations represented at the meeting included UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières, ALIMA, the International Rescue Committee, Save the Children, Helen Keller International, Nutrition International and Action Against Hunger, among others.
