Germany have moved ahead of Brazil in the all-time FIFA World Cup scoring chart following a dominant 7–1 victory over Curacao in their opening match of the 2026 tournament.

The emphatic win saw the Germans raise their cumulative World Cup goal tally to 239, edging past Brazil’s previous record of 238.
Kai Havertz netted twice in the encounter, with his second goal sealing the historic milestone. Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown and Denis Undav also found the net in a comprehensive team display.
Brazil had temporarily matched the record during their 1–1 draw against Morocco, with Vinicius Junior’s equaliser bringing their total to 238 goals.
Germany now hold a narrow one-goal advantage at the top of the all-time scoring list. However, Brazil have an opportunity to reclaim the record when they face Haiti in their next Group C fixture, while Germany will aim to extend their lead against Ivory Coast.
