Jose Mourinho is backing his native Portugal and England to go all the way at the 2026 World Cup.

Portugal are one step from the Round of 32. After drawing 1-1 with DR Congo, Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates hit back with a 5-0 thrashing of Uzbekistan in their second group game. A single point against Colombia would now seal their spot in the knockouts.
England, meanwhile, kicked off their campaign with a 4-2 win over Croatia before being held 0-0 by Ghana.
Asked about Portugal’s chances on the Beast Mode On Podcast with Adebayo Akinfenwa, Mourinho didn’t hold back. “They should go all the way and win the World Cup,” he said. “They are not alone. Of course there are other contenders.”
He also made the case for England. “I always say England will be in contention to make the final. I look to the players, and we come from that generation — Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Ferdinand, Beckham. Since then, I always say England, and then it doesn’t happen, but I always say England.”
