Funke Akindele Opens Up on Emotional Toll of Fame, Public Criticism

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has opened up about the emotional toll of fame, revealing that she sometimes breaks down in tears while dealing with public scrutiny and criticism.

The actress made this known during an interview with CNN, where she spoke about the personal struggles behind her cheerful public image.

“I cry. I lock myself in the room, cry, break down, and hit the bed. But I just pick myself up and come back to life,” she said.

Akindele also revealed that public opinion sometimes makes her question her decisions and worry about how others perceive her.

“Sometimes I tell myself, you’ve made a mistake again. How are people going to judge you?” she said.

Despite the pressure, the actress said she has learnt to overcome such moments, pick herself up, and move forward without allowing public criticism to define her.
