Former France manager Didier Deschamps has reportedly turned down the opportunity to become Manchester United’s next head coach.

According to the Daily Mirror, United contacted the 58-year-old to assess his interest in replacing Michael Carrick, whose position at Old Trafford has come under pressure following a poor start to the Premier League season.
Deschamps was considered an attractive option because of his managerial experience and record of winning major trophies, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France.
However, the Frenchman is reportedly uninterested in taking charge of the struggling Premier League side and prefers to wait for a more suitable opportunity before returning to management.
Deschamps has been without a club management role since leaving Marseille in 2012, although he continued as France’s national team coach until 2026.
Meanwhile, Carrick’s future remains uncertain despite Manchester United’s recent 3-2 Champions League comeback victory over Roma, which ended a nine-game winless run in all competitions.
United are expected to assess their managerial options as they seek to improve their fortunes this season.
