Dating Pressures, Financial Expectations Keep Me Single at 35 — Whitemoney

Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, has said Nigeria’s evolving dating culture is a major reason he remains unmarried at 35.

The former Big Brother Naija winner expressed concern about his relationship status, noting that financial expectations in modern dating have made it difficult to find a suitable partner.

Speaking in a video shared on his social media page, Whitemoney said he is ready to settle down but is still searching for the right woman.

“I can’t even lie, I’m getting old. The dating culture in Nigeria is something else. I need a wife,” he said.

He added that many women prioritize financial demands over building meaningful relationships, particularly in urban areas like Lagos.

“A lot of Nigerian girls now, any small thing, billing. They don’t ask, ‘can we build together?’ It’s difficult to find the right woman nowadays,” he said.

His comments reflect a broader conversation about shifting relationship expectations, with rising living costs and social media influence often cited as factors shaping modern dating dynamics in Nigeria.
