Brentford have recorded their best-ever start to a Premier League season after defeating Chelsea 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday.
The Bees scored all three goals in the second half, with Jaidon Anthony opening the scoring in the 61st minute before Igor Thiago doubled the lead 19 minutes later. Fabio Carvalho completed the win in stoppage time.
The victory keeps Keith Andrews’ side unbeaten after five league matches and gives them nine points, surpassing their previous best tally of eight points after five games, achieved in the 2021/22 season.
The result also lifted Brentford to third place in the Premier League table, while Chelsea suffered their third consecutive league game without a win.
Anthony said Andrews urged the team to increase their intensity and maintain belief at half-time.
“Fab [Carvalho] told me a couple of days ago that I was going to score, so I’m really happy with that one,” Anthony said.
