Borno: Troops Foil Ambush, Dismantle Terrorist Camps

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have foiled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists along the Buni Gari-Buratai axis in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

The 27 Task Force Brigade troops encountered the terrorists during a routine patrol on Monday, September 7, 2026, and forced them to withdraw from the area.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Captain Mohammed Goni, said reinforcements were deployed to clear the ambush site and search the surrounding area.

Troops subsequently dismantled several makeshift camps believed to have been used as terrorist hideouts and recovered a motorcycle, bicycles, an AK-47 magazine, ammunition, and RPG bombs.

The military said no troop was killed or injured, although some military vehicles were damaged during the encounter.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the military to disrupt terrorist movements and deny insurgents freedom of action in the North-East.
