The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has re-arrested two suspected child traffickers and rescued a four-year-old girl in Kuje, Abuja.
The suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested on August 27 while allegedly attempting to flee with the child, Ummi Mariam Abdullah.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the arrests followed a tip-off from a resident who witnessed the incident and alerted the police.
She said preliminary investigations showed that the suspects had previously been arrested and prosecuted in December 2025 over a similar offence. They were reportedly convicted and later released on bail after spending about five months in custody.
According to Adeh, further investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country since their release.
She said two of the children were allegedly taken to an accomplice in Port Harcourt, identified as “Madam Ijeoma,” who reportedly bought each child for N1.5 million.
The rescued girl has since been reunited with her family, while the suspects remain in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
The command said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are completed. It also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving children to the police.
