Yayi Support Group Urges Peaceful Campaigns Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Yayi Connect Team, a support group backing Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, has urged politicians and voters to shun electoral violence and obey electoral laws ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group’s Convener and Director-General, Abdulateef Sulaimon, made the call on Tuesday at its maiden state strategic congress, tagged “Gbé Yayi Débè,” held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers Hall in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

Sulaimon urged members and Nigerians across political divides to promote peace and allow voters to freely choose their leaders.

He said the group was mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, Adeola’s governorship ambition and other APC candidates in the state.

According to him, the organisation has established coordinators and executive committees across Ogun State’s 236 wards, 20 local government areas and three senatorial districts.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Salako, urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation. He also defended the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, describing the hardships they have caused as temporary measures aimed at achieving long-term economic growth.

Salako called on members to resist opposition parties’ criticism of the government and work towards securing victory for APC candidates in 2027.

The congress brought together party stakeholders and group members from across Ogun State’s three senatorial districts.
