Ogun Police Arrest Man for Impersonating Soldier

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Akinola Damilare, popularly known as General Don, for allegedly impersonating a military officer in Abeokuta.

The suspect was arrested at about 2am on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Kajola, Elega, following intelligence from a community leader and surveillance by operatives of the command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying officers recovered a military face cap, a pair of three-quarter military trousers, and four photographs showing the suspect dressed in military uniform.

The police said the arrest was part of efforts to tackle impersonation and other criminal activities in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security and urged residents to report suspicious activities.

The command added that investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and identify possible accomplices.
