Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja will serve as the administration’s strongest campaign message ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday during an inspection of the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki–Zuba road, Wike said his administration remains focused on delivering key projects despite growing political activity.
He stressed that voters are more concerned with visible results than political promises, noting that ongoing projects reflect the government’s performance.
Wike expressed satisfaction with progress on the Arterial Road N16, which links Jahi, Gwarimpa, and Karsana. He said the contractor, CBC Global, has committed to completing the project by January, with funding guaranteed to meet the deadline.
He also commended work on the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki–Zuba road being handled by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, noting that the project remains on track for completion by December despite weather challenges.
According to the minister, approval has been granted for the relocation of electricity poles along the route to enable streetlight installation.
Wike further praised Chinese construction firms operating in the FCT, saying their willingness to begin work without upfront mobilization reflects confidence in the government’s commitment to meet contractual obligations.
He assured residents of sustained funding for critical infrastructure and urged contractors to maintain quality and meet deadlines.
The minister added that regular project inspections are part of efforts to accelerate development under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure timely delivery ahead of future elections.
