The All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed claims by opposition figures Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso that President Bola Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election.
Minister of Defence Christopher Musa said the APC remained confident of retaining the presidency and winning other elections, including in Kaduna State.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Musa described reports of growing opposition to the APC in the North as a matter of perception.
“APC will win in Kaduna,” he said, adding that the party would win the presidential, governorship, and other elections.
His comments came after Obi and Kwankwaso told supporters at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt that they were prepared to resist any attempt to manipulate the 2027 elections.
Obi said voters would ensure that their votes counted, while Kwankwaso argued that controlling a large number of states would not guarantee victory for the APC, citing the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
The APC also dismissed their predictions, describing them as “cheap talk” and insisting that Nigerians would re-elect Tinubu in 2027.
Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State rejected claims by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike that opposition parties would lose the state, expressing confidence in its chances ahead of the election.
