Viral Sensation DJ Chicken Regains Freedom

Controversial Nigerian content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has been released from detention after fulfilling his bail conditions.

His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed the development on Tuesday via Instagram, writing, “All glory to God. DJ Chicken.”

Human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, also announced the release on X, stating that DJ Chicken had reunited with his family and emphasizing the need to resist oppression.

DJ Chicken was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Friday after being arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos. He faced a three-count charge, including alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of peace, and making threats to kill Seyi Tinubu.

The charges stemmed from a viral video in which he made remarks about Bola Tinubu and the 2027 election. Although he later described the comments as a joke, he was arrested and charged.

After pleading not guilty, the court granted him ₦1 million bail with strict conditions, including two sureties. The case has been adjourned to August 3, 2026.

A livestream shared shortly after his release showed the content creator smiling and engaging with followers, as reactions continue to trail the development online.
