Ride-hailing company Uber has ended its operations in Nigeria after 12 years in the country.
The company announced on Wednesday that it would wind down its services in Nigeria and Uganda effective September 2, 2026.
Uber said the decision followed a review of its evolving business priorities and investment focus across Africa, adding that the move was limited to Nigeria and Uganda and would not affect its operations in other African markets.
The company said its immediate focus was supporting drivers, riders and local team members through the transition.
Uber, which launched in Lagos in 2014, said its decision to leave Nigeria was not connected to the recent Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, directive on e-hailing operations at airports.
The company said its customer support services would remain available until September 23 for outstanding account-related enquiries.
