Troops Arrest Suspected Killer Herder in Benue.

Troops have arrested a suspected armed herder, identified as Bagudu, over alleged killings and attacks in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

The suspect was reportedly arrested after a survivor of an earlier attack, identified as Madam Ikpanya, recognized him and alerted community leaders, prompting a search that led to his capture in a hideout.

Ikpanya said the suspect attacked her and the commercial motorcyclist conveying her, killing the rider with a machete and inflicting several injuries on her. She survived after receiving treatment at a hospital.

The traditional ruler of Naka, Chief Daniel Abomtse, and the President-General of the Tyoshin Community Development Association, Tiza Tarnongo, welcomed the arrest and called for justice for victims of attacks in the area.

The suspect has reportedly been handed over to the police for prosecution and is expected to be arraigned before the Benue State High Court on Wednesday, November 4, after investigations are concluded.
