Tope Osoba Loses Cancer Battle, Dies at 40

Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has died at the age of 40 following a battle with breast cancer.

Her death was confirmed on Wednesday by fellow actress Foluke Daramola in a post on Instagram.

Osoba went public with her illness in 2024, when she appealed for financial support after undergoing an initial surgery. At the time, Daramola disclosed that the actress required a second operation to remove remaining cancerous cells, estimated to cost about ₦12 million.

The actress had earlier shared that she discovered a lump during a routine self-examination. Although it was initially dismissed as a post-childbirth change, further tests later confirmed it was cancerous.

Osoba also sought assistance from the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), led by Bolaji Amusan.

Tributes have since poured in from colleagues and fans, who have praised her strength and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
