A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to base his 2027 re-election bid on his administration’s performance rather than political rhetoric.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Momodu said Nigerians would ultimately decide the election based on the government’s record, stressing that the president does not face personal hostility from voters.
He noted that Tinubu’s chances would improve if he presents clear evidence of his administration’s achievements.
Momodu also criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for blaming past administrations for current economic and governance challenges, despite being in power since 2015. He argued that the government should instead be judged on the steps it has taken to improve the situation.
“If the administration inherited a struggling economy, Nigerians will assess what has been done to change that trajectory,” he said.
The media entrepreneur further questioned the impact of current policies, asking how the government has improved citizens’ lives since taking office.
On opposition politics, Momodu weighed in on tensions between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alleging continued resistance to Atiku’s presidential ambition.
His comments come amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general election, where Tinubu is expected to seek a second term, with opposition figures already positioning for the race.
