The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at its retail outlets in Abuja.
Checks across the Federal Capital Territory show that the new price now stands at N1,299 per litre, down from N1,335 per litre, representing a N36 reduction.
The adjusted price has already been implemented at several NNPCL filling stations, including locations in Lugbe, Kubwa Expressway, and Wuse Zone 3.
The latest price cut comes amid growing competition in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector. Just days earlier, Dangote Refinery-backed MRS filling stations lowered their pump price by N40 to N1,265 per litre, putting pressure on other marketers to follow suit.
Industry trends show that petrol prices across Abuja have recently hovered around N1,300 per litre, with marketers adjusting rates in response to supply costs and competition.
The ongoing price adjustments reflect a broader shift in Nigeria’s deregulated fuel market, where retail prices are increasingly influenced by refinery output, global oil prices, and market competition.
