President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, appointing former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named Secretary of the council.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice-Chairman I and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as Vice-Chairman II.
APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively.
The campaign council also includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as deputy directors-general for the northern and southern campaign operations.
Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilization, while Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will handle administration. James Faleke returns as Deputy Director-General for election planning, coordination, and monitoring.
Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris will coordinate media and strategic communications, working with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Segun Dada also returns as Director of New Media.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
He also urged campaign officials to involve other party members in the campaign effort, saying the party should highlight the administration’s achievements and present its record to voters.
The President said the campaign should “inspire hope” across the country and defeat forces seeking to take Nigeria backwards.
