Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has said she would not make the first move in a romantic relationship, including with Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

Speaking during an interview at the BET Awards, the singer responded to a question about whether she knew Okoye, saying, “I wish I did.” However, when asked if she would “shoot her shot,” Tems dismissed the idea, stating, “We don’t shoot shots over here.”
She explained that she prefers relationships built on friendship and mutual respect rather than actively pursuing romantic interests. “We friend each other and we are family, sisters and brothers,” she said.
Her comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some praising her stance while others argue that women making the first move is perfectly acceptable.
