A student of Taraba State Polytechnic, Jalingo, Iorhee Saanmoyol Paul, who lost both hands to electrocution in 2025, is appealing for urgent medical assistance after losing his left eye and developing complications in his remaining eye.

Paul, a student of Epidemiology and Disease Control, was electrocuted on May 21, 2025, while raising a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag with an iron rod that reportedly touched a high-tension electricity wire along the Roadblock–ATC Road, near the polytechnic’s entrance in Jalingo.
He was hospitalized for 28 days before both hands were amputated on June 19, 2025, to save his life.
Speaking in Jalingo, Paul said his condition had worsened, with his remaining eye also experiencing vision problems. He appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas, the Taraba State Government, philanthropists, and well-meaning Nigerians to help fund urgent eye treatment and provide artificial hands to improve his independence.
Paul expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas for supporting his treatment after the incident, including providing N500,000 following his discharge. However, he said he still needed assistance with his latest medical complications and rehabilitation.
He also alleged that attempts to reach the person assigned to follow up on his case had been unsuccessful.
When contacted, Dr. Danga, a personal physician to Governor Kefas, said government intervention was a process and assured that the authorities would look into Paul’s situation.
The incident occurred during preparations for President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Taraba State for the Taraba Investment Summit, known as TARAVEST. Paul’s latest appeal has renewed calls for support for his medical care and rehabilitation.
