Super Eagles Arrive Russia for Tuesday’s Friendly

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have arrived in Russia ahead of their international friendly against the hosts on Tuesday, October 6.

The Nigerian delegation landed in Moscow on Friday as preparations began for the encounter at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

The fixture will be only the second senior international meeting between Nigeria and Russia. Their first encounter ended in a 1-1 draw at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium in June 2025, with Tolu Arokodare scoring Nigeria’s equalizer.

Head coach Éric Chelle will use the friendly to assess his squad after Nigeria’s 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their latest 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

Chelle has also made two changes to the squad, with John Otomewo and Vince Osuji replacing Wilfred Ndidi and Victory Akpe following their withdrawals.

The Super Eagles are expected to begin preparations for Tuesday’s clash in Russia.
