African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has vowed to reverse the naming of public infrastructure after President Bola Tinubu and other officials if elected in 2027.

Sowore made this known in a statement on Friday, reacting to the Federal Government’s decision to rename the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after Tinubu. He criticized the move, describing it as inappropriate, and said such decisions would be overturned under his administration.
“The naming of highways, national institutions, and public assets after officials will be reversed as a matter of urgency,” he stated.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, had announced that the highway would now be known as the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway. He said the decision followed consultations within the ministry and was meant to honor Tinubu’s long-standing vision for the project, which dates back to his time as Lagos State governor.
Umahi also disclosed that the President approved a 400-kilometer extension of the Fourth Legacy Highway, increasing its length to 1,100 kilometers, alongside other major road projects.
Sowore’s comments come amid broader policy proposals tied to his 2027 presidential ambition, including plans to reform tertiary admissions and replace the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with a voluntary job-focused program.
