Rivers United assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju says the club is determined to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title after finishing runners-up to Rangers International last season.

Olanrewaju spoke after Rivers United played out a goalless draw with Barau FC in their Matchday 9 fixture in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
The result kept Rivers United unbeaten in the league, with the team continuing to pursue their first title of the campaign under head coach Finidi George.
“We are prepared. This is Rivers United. The pressure is on us to do well this season, more than we did last season,” Olanrewaju said in comments published by the club.
He added that the team was focused on collecting points rather than maintaining its unbeaten record, stressing that defensive discipline remained central to their approach.
“The key thing for us is not to concede. If you don’t concede, you can’t lose a game. That’s our philosophy,” he said.
Rivers United are scheduled to face Bendel Insurance away at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Sunday, October 25.
