The Katsina State Police Command has foiled separate bandit attacks in Kankia and Musawa Local Government Areas, rescuing three kidnapped victims, recovering 12 rustled cows, and neutralizing one suspected bandit.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Katsina on Wednesday.
According to the statement, bandits attacked Fakuwa village in Kankia LGA at about 9:30 p.m. on October 6, kidnapping three people and rustling 12 cows.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kankia, led police operatives and local vigilantes to the area following a distress call. The team engaged the bandits in a gun battle, forcing them to flee into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds.
The three victims were rescued unharmed, while all 12 cows were recovered and returned to their owners.
In a separate incident at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, suspected bandits barricaded the Kiryoyi-Dangani Road in Musawa LGA.
The DPO Musawa and members of the Vigilance and Community Response Unit, VCRU, responded to the attack and engaged the suspects in a gun battle, forcing them to flee.
A subsequent search operation led to the recovery of the body of one suspected bandit, with a machete found beside him.
The police said efforts were ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for their response and urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
The latest operation comes weeks after police rescued four kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a separate bandit attack in Dutsin-Ma LGA.
