The Oyo State Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has called for memoranda from members of the public.
The commission is seeking relevant facts, evidence, and information on the May 15 abduction in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota communities, including the security situation before, during, and after the incident and the response of authorities.
The call was contained in a public notice issued by the commission and signed by its Secretary, Olamide Sandra Tella. Contributors are required to provide their full names, contact details, and any supporting documents.
Memoranda may be submitted physically at the commission’s secretariat, Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, or electronically via oysjceoriireabduction@gmail.com. The deadline is August 14, 2026.
The commission was inaugurated by Governor Seyi Makinde on July 31 to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.
On May 15, gunmen attacked three schools in Oriire and abducted 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers. The victims were rescued on July 10 after 56 days in captivity in a joint security operation.
The inquiry is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the security response to the attack.
