Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate Ademola Adeleke has said he is not intimidated by alleged support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, from the Federal Government and some governors.
Adeleke described himself as a “bulldozer” and said he was ready to face the influence of the APC and its supporters in the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking during the Arise Townhall Meeting on Tuesday, the governor said, “I am a bulldozer. I am talk and do. I am not afraid of federal might and governors backing the APC candidate. If they like, they should bring all the governors.”
He said the governors were his friends and argued that their presence in Osun would not determine the election, insisting that only voters could decide the outcome.
“Those governors are my friends. I am a civilized administrator. They won’t vote; they can only come and dance, and after the election, we will meet,” he said.
Adeleke has previously accused the Osun APC of threatening to deploy “federal might” to influence the election, urging voters to resist attempts to interfere with their choice.
The governor also dismissed allegations that his administration had militarized the state, saying he lacked the authority to deploy the armed forces.
“I did not militarize Osun. I have no such capacity. I am not the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” Adeleke said.
The comments come as Adeleke, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, seeks a second term amid an increasingly competitive race against APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and other contenders.
