NNPC Targets Africa’s Energy Ecosystem Growth

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) says it is repositioning itself beyond oil and gas production to become a key driver of Africa’s broader energy ecosystem.

Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari said the company is evolving into a platform that connects investment, technology, policy, talent, and markets to support sustainable energy development across Nigeria and the continent.

Ojulari made this known on Monday while reflecting on NNPC Ltd.’s participation at the 2026 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week, where the company outlined its strategy to deepen partnerships and attract investment into the sector.

NOG Energy Week is Nigeria’s flagship annual energy conference, bringing together policymakers, regulators, oil companies, investors, and technology providers to discuss energy security, gas development, decarbonization, and industry growth.

According to Ojulari, NNPC’s transformation follows its transition into a commercially driven entity under the Petroleum Industry Act, which has strengthened its focus on efficiency, partnerships, and long-term value creation.

“We no longer see NNPC as just an energy producer but as an ecosystem builder connecting capital, technology, and markets to drive lasting value,” he said.

He added that the shift would guide the company’s approach to investments and collaborations across the energy value chain, with the goal of accelerating Africa’s energy development.

The Federal Government has identified the energy sector as a key driver of economic growth, with ongoing reforms aimed at boosting production, expanding gas utilization, and attracting foreign investment.

NNPC Ltd. continues to play a central role in implementing these reforms through partnerships with both local and international stakeholders.
