NDC: Peter Obi Only Exhausted, Needs Rest

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed concerns about the health of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying he is only exhausted from his demanding political schedule and needs rest.

The party’s Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Dr. Sam Omale, stated this during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday.

Omale explained that Obi’s frequent travels, packed engagements, and commitment to political activities had left him physically tired.

He said the former Anambra State governor often travels between different locations within hours, leaving him with little time to rest.

“Sometimes I wonder where he gets his energy from. He is in London today and the following morning in Enugu. Exhaustion comes in; he is a human being,” he said.

Omale, however, insisted that Obi was in good health, adding that members of his team were encouraging him to get enough sleep.

“He is in perfect health. There’s nothing wrong with him. It’s just exhaustion, and we are trying to calm him down to take a nap. He is fine,” he added.

His comments follow viral reports alleging that Obi was hospitalized after sustaining an injury at a gym. Another NDC spokesperson, Idris Zekeri, had dismissed the reports as false, insisting that the presidential candidate was in good health.

Omale maintained that Obi’s exhaustion would not affect the party’s ongoing campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
