The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Kaduna State Government have distributed solar home systems, clean cooking stoves and support packs to 500 residents to ease household expenses and improve livelihoods.

The beneficiaries comprise 450 women and 50 men drawn from the state’s 23 local government areas under NASENI’s Sustainable Empowerment Programme.
Speaking at the programme’s launch on Monday, Governor Uba Sani said the initiative would reduce household burdens, support small businesses and improve living standards through science and technology.
NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the solar systems would provide household lighting, while the clean cooking stoves were expected to reduce fuel consumption and exposure to smoke when used correctly.
He added that the intervention could create economic opportunities through the local production, distribution, installation and maintenance of the technologies.
Halilu urged beneficiaries to use and maintain the items properly, saying feedback from recipients would help improve future interventions.
The programme is part of NASENI’s efforts to make locally developed technologies more accessible and deliver practical benefits to communities.
