Fenerbahçe forward Vedat Muriqi has backed his team’s defence to contain Victor Osimhen ahead of Monday’s Turkish Süper Lig derby against Galatasaray.
Muriqi acknowledged the Nigerian striker’s quality but expressed confidence that Fenerbahçe’s defensive organisation could limit his pace and attacking threat.
“He’s a very strong and good player, but I trust my teammates,” Muriqi said in an interview with beIN Sports, according to Turk Inform.
“I think our defensive line can neutralise Osimhen’s quickness and gain the upper hand.”
Osimhen has been a key figure for Galatasaray since joining the club, including scoring twice in their 2–1 victory over Fenerbahçe in the 2024–25 Turkish Cup quarter-final.
The Super Eagles striker recently ended a two-match league scoring drought by finding the net against his former club, Lille, in the UEFA Champions League, according to the supplied report.
