A 25-year-old woman, Kehinde Onizeokaraga, has allegedly been hacked to death by her husband, Ibrahim Sodiq, popularly known as Alfa Eleran, during a domestic dispute in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Dalimore area of the state capital, according to family and community sources.
The couple had reportedly gone to the residence of Lamidi Salawu, a friend of Kehinde’s father, for mediation over marital differences when the disagreement allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Kehinde’s cousin, Lawrence Yusuf, alleged that Sodiq attacked her repeatedly with a machete before fleeing the scene with her mobile phone.
Yusuf said Kehinde had been planning to leave the nine-month-old marriage and was preparing to travel to her sister’s home in Idoani, Ondo State.
He also alleged that Salawu, his wife, and another person linked to the marriage had been taken into police custody, while Sodiq remained at large.
The family is demanding justice and calling for the suspect’s immediate arrest.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ekiti State Police Command had not issued an official statement confirming the incident.
