Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda says reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are helping states meet their financial obligations while executing major development projects.
Governor Radda stated this on Sunday at the Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027 Islamiyya Teachers’ Empowerment, school commissioning, and virtual commissioning of 45 solar-powered streetlights in Katsina.
He said his administration had executed projects worth more than ₦30 billion without borrowing, while also paying salaries and pensions promptly.
Governor Radda said the situation was different in the past when the state relied on loans to meet its obligations.
“Today, there is no sector where we are taking a loan to execute a single project in Katsina State. We are paying pensions and meeting our obligations to the people of Katsina,” he said.
He urged citizens, organizations, and philanthropists to support development efforts, noting that government alone could not address all the needs of the people.
Governor Radda also cautioned against misinformation, urging citizens to focus on measurable achievements rather than political rhetoric.
As part of the event, Governor Radda donated ₦10,000 each to the 690 beneficiaries of the empowerment program, bringing his total contribution to ₦6.9 million, which he rounded up to ₦7 million.
Speaking at the event, former Governor of Katsina State, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, said political leaders should prioritize the welfare and development of the people.
Hon. Masari said anyone who refused to acknowledge the achievements of President Tinubu and Governor Radda was being hypocritical.
He cited federal government infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other strategic roads, as initiatives capable of creating economic opportunities and supporting agriculture.
Also speaking, the Director-General of Tinubu/Dikko Assured, Hon. Umar Ahmed Zayyad, said the organization had expanded its programs to support teachers and Islamiyya school beneficiaries.
The Deputy Chairman of the APC in Katsina State, Bala Abu Musawa, commended Governor Radda’s empowerment and development programs, expressing confidence that the APC would retain the state in the forthcoming elections.
