Gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed that she once left Nigeria intending never to return before switching from secular to gospel music.

Speaking at a recent EeZee Conceptz event, the singer said she travelled abroad and attempted to secure permanent residency but was unsuccessful.
She said the CEO of EeZee Conceptz was the only person who consistently called her from Nigeria while she was away, encouraging her to return.
According to Chidinma, his support influenced her decision to work with the record label after returning to the country.
“When I came back, I asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God,” she said, adding that her lawyer considered the contract so favourable that it seemed like charity.
The singer clarified that her transition to gospel music was not initially driven by a desire to make gospel songs but by her desire to build a deeper relationship with God.
