Tyson Fury has cast fresh doubt on his proposed heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua, claiming the fight may not happen because Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is seeking more money.
Fury made the comments in an explosive social media rant on Friday, accusing Hearn and Joshua of making additional financial demands from Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh.
“Doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight. Doesn’t look like it’s going to happen,” Fury said.
The long-awaited all-British clash is being targeted for November 20, with Madison Square Garden in New York emerging as the preferred venue. However, Hearn has maintained that more terms must be agreed before the fight can be confirmed.
A major sticking point is the venue. Joshua’s contract reportedly requires the fight to take place in the United Kingdom, while Saudi organizers are pushing for New York. Hearn has argued that moving the event to the US would require changes to the existing agreement, including financial considerations.
Fury, who says he is ready to fight in any location, accused Joshua and Hearn of deliberately delaying the bout for financial reasons.
He warned that if the deal collapses, he could fight another opponent in November.
Despite Fury’s claims, the fight has not been officially cancelled, with negotiations still ongoing.
