Dangote Hikes Diesel Price by N100 After Recent Cut

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has raised its gantry price of diesel to N1,800 per litre from N1,700, just three days after reducing the price by N80.

A market survey on Saturday showed that the latest adjustment represents a N100 increase per liter, reversing the recent reduction that took effect on October 7.

Despite the increase, Dangote’s diesel remained cheaper than supplies from major depot operators, including Pivot, African Terminal, and Integrated, which were selling the product at N1,905 per litre, according to the survey.

The latest increase could add to pressure on retail diesel prices, which were reported to range between N1,960 and N1,980 per litre in Abuja and its environs.

The refinery’s price adjustments come amid fluctuations in international crude oil prices and diesel import costs, which have influenced local fuel pricing in recent weeks. Data from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria showed that estimated diesel import costs declined earlier in October, preceding Dangote’s price reduction.
