Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi has reignited the long-standing debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, joking that football preferences could be a warning sign in business relationships.
In a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Bovi suggested that a person’s stance in the Messi–Ronaldo rivalry may reflect how they interpret reality. He advised that before entering a business partnership, one might consider asking a potential partner who they believe is the better footballer.
Bovi noted that there is nothing wrong with preferring Ronaldo or even calling him the greatest of all time. However, he argued that anyone who confidently claims Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi should raise concern.
“If you’re going into business with someone, ask their favorite footballer,” he said. “If they say Ronaldo, fine. If they say he’s the GOAT, no problem. But if they insist he’s better than Messi, that’s a red flag.”
He added that such individuals may have a tendency to “alter reality” to fit personal beliefs, warning that this mindset could extend beyond sports opinions into business decisions.
The comments have sparked renewed reactions online, with fans once again divided over the enduring rivalry between the two football icons, widely regarded as among the greatest players in history.
