Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has said he does not want to spend his retirement years in Nigeria, arguing that the country lags behind others in development.

The rapper made the remarks during an appearance on The Zeze Millz Show, where he described Nigeria as “hectic” despite considering it home.
He said travelling abroad had exposed him to the gap between Nigeria and other countries, adding that he wished the country offered better living conditions.
“Nigeria is hectic, but it is still home. When you go to other countries, you will realise how far we are from where we should be,” he said.
Blaqbonez added that he struggled to imagine successful people choosing to retire in Nigeria, although he acknowledged that some might prefer to stay.
He said his ideal retirement would involve living on a large ranch and raising animals, a lifestyle he does not associate with Nigeria.
