Betta Edu Vows Nationwide Women’s Mobilization Ahead of 2027

Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, has pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization across Nigeria after President Bola Tinubu expressed support for proposed bills to increase women’s representation in elective and appointive positions.

Betta Edu, Director of Women Mobilization of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, made the pledge after Tinubu spoke during the inauguration of the council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The President acknowledged women’s contributions to political mobilisation and democratic development, urging female leaders to advocate for the proposed legislation.

Speaking after the event, Edu thanked Tinubu for his commitment to improving women’s participation in governance, describing the proposed bills as a step towards greater representation.

She also pledged to strengthen grassroots structures and engage women across communities under the supervision of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

Edu said the mobilisation drive would continue ahead of the 2027 general elections, with women expected to reciprocate the President’s support through sustained political engagement.
